I hung the bunting over one of the bookcases, just to show you, and Chris got a little insulted that I was already trying to “jazz up” the shelves.
The instructional DVD is awesome.First of all, the decor styles and dress of the facilitators are completely dated and therefore super entertaining to watch, but beyond that, it’s actually really helpful.
It takes you through the basic step-by-step process and gets you ready to go!.Here’s a picture of one of the three windows I was working on before, with no cornice and just some 2 inch faux wood blinds..Previously, I had made these rustic burlap valances in the Fall, just for fun.
They were fine for then, but it was time for something a little more polished.Even though we’re not ready to tackle painting the cabinets and replacing the countertops in the kitchen, it’s time to make it feel a little more finished and comfortable..
When the burlap was down, I measured the window from side to side including the moldings.
Since this window was sandwiched between two cabinets, we realized we would just need one straight piece of cornice for a nice clean look and wouldn’t need to attach the end cap pieces..If you look up how to clean microfiber, you’ll find all kinds of great advice.
The thing with microfiber is that cleaning it with water doesn’t really work that well because you’ll end up with water spots wherever you wet it.A lot of people recommend using Windex because it dries so quickly, although that can be a problem if you have light-colored furniture because Windex often has color in it that can discolor the microfiber.
A lot of other people also recommend using rubbing alcohol, again because it cleans well and dries quickly.I love rubbing alcohol!
